Contact Minister of Church and/or Registrar
Submit official forms for licences etc
Make a guest list
Book venue for wedding ceremony
Book wedding reception venue - Organise caterers if separate
Choose supporters
Start thinking about a theme for your wedding
Book entertainment
Book Photographer
Book Official Cars

Six months to go

Plan ceremony
N A Design & PrintChoose brides dress/bridesmaids dresses
Book Honeymoon
Choose and order the Wedding cake
Choose and order any hired outfits ( morning dress/kilts)
Check Passport is up to date


Three months to go

Choose and order printed wedding stationery
Set up wedding gift list or arrange with local or online store
Buy brides going away outfit
Order flowers individual and for church/venue
Choose rings
Buy any remaining accessories

Six weeks to go

Prepare travel and accommodation informnation for guests
Mail invitations – Gift Lists – Information lists
Buy gifts for supporters parents etc.
Confirm booking with hairdresser for the wedding day
Confirm any other beauty treatments for pre wedding or wedding day
Arrange Insurance for Gifts and for the Wedding Day

Four weeks to go

Advise guest numbers to caterers
Confirm details with minister or registrar, photographer, florist, car hire etc
Discuss additional Insurance with your broker or check on-line
Arrange Travel Insurance
Two weeks to go

Confirm final numbers for ceremony and reception
Arrange seating plan with caterers
Check all tickets for honeymoon have arrived
Check Passports are to hand
Arrange holiday money , travellers cheques etc
Pack cases for the honeymoon

One week to go

Hold rehearsals
Have final fitting of dresses for bride and supporters
Check any hire outfits for Groom and Supporters are available

Very Important – If you book by telephone follow up by letter and request written confirmation by return. Do not accept that any booking has been made until you get it in writing and remember to follow up nearer the time. Mistakes can and do happen.

Remember you are making a reservation up to a year in advance and anything can happen in between.
