On the day

  • Relax – everything was checked yesterday
  • Have a special breakfast
  • Have your hair done
  • Have the bridesmaids meet at your home
  • Get dressed with your mother and the chief bridesmaids help
  • Have one small glass of champagne or a nice cup of tea if you prefer- if you are nervous leave it out – a spill is the last thing you need now.
  • You are the last to leave for the ceremony
  • After the ceremony you and your new husband are the first to leave for the reception.

At the reception

  • Welcome all your guests.
  • Join the receiving line with your husband and both sets of parents
  • Everyone will cheer and applaud you to your seat
  • Eat first no one else can start eating until you do
  • Cut your wedding cake with your husband
  • Listen to the speech and if you wish say a few words yourself
  • If there is dancing after the meal you lead the first dance with your husband and the second with your father or the person you gave you away.
  • Speak to everyone
  • Thank all your supporters
  • Get changed to leave
  • Say your farewells to all who are still standing

Throw your bouquet to the crowd as you leave

After the honeymoon

You and your husband send letters of thanks to all who sent gifts
Send a piece of your wedding cake to those who could not come on the day.
Make a new will and if you wish change your name
